Thank God it's Friday!

Oh boy! What a week! Thank God it's nearly over!

It's been a busy week at work because I had to prepare samples for a series of experiments I have to make. This preparation involves the electric organ of an electric ray that comes from California, USA. It took me three days to get everything done. But luckily I've finished. Next week the experiments will begin :)
There are only two things to complain about this week's work:

1) The centrifuges didn't want to work for me. They'd work for every one else but me! Does it mean they hate me? I don't think the can actually feel any emotion against me being that they are machines but although I follow every single step to get them to start (same as anybody else) they just won't start... So annoying!


2) I learned the taste of this ray.... and it's not a good one!! There is a reason why it is recomended to use a rubber pro-pipette: so you don't swallow anything! I have to get the electric ray tissue on the top layer of the sucrose gradient and I accidentally sucked too fast and I ended getting fish taste!! Terrible, terrible thing! Luckily, I had my tooth-paste and -brush at had!! You could say I was ----- for not being careful! But the thing is: doing a sucrose gradient without a machine that does it for you is very difficult! And it's almost impossible to do it with a pro-pipette! Oh, the woes of living in a third world country!!


Other than this, I had a great walk with my friend Stefi on Tuesday, a birthday party last Wednesday night and yesterday night I went to see Leonardo Di Caprio's lastest movie: Inception 


I LOVED IT!!!  Please do yourself a favour and watch it!! It's even better than  the first Matrix movie!!!!

And tonight: homemade pizzas with my best friends!!!

Delirio de película.

A lo mejor bastante low en el rating de una persona cuerda, pero para mí, que no me caracterizo por ser el epítome de la racionalidad, es una película digna de ser vista, aunque no sea más que por ver a Marvin.

Alan Rickman definitivamente se lleva el corazón de quien mire esta película.

Bienvenidos al cortísimo post número 100 de este diverso (?), popular (?) y alocado (?) blog. Simplemente quería compartir, más que nada para los hombres, la mejor manera de tratar a una mujer:

What a great love movie... I never get tired of watching it...

Brazil

Ayer vimos con mi novio una película muy rara llamada Brazil, en la que actúa durante unos 10 a 15 repartidos minutos Robert De Niro. Fue hecha en 1985 y presenta la triste realidad de la burocracia de una manera que me pareció muy original y entretenida. Ambientada en una época futurísta, la película encara el problema del constante papeleo que sufrimos cada vez que se realizan trámites y el tema de que al producirse una equivocación, el error es siempre de otro, nunca del sistema.
Es digna de ser vista por lo menos una vez en la vida, y no sé si no sería necesario verla una segunda vez para terminar de entender algo importante:

Why the hell is it called Brazil????

Algunas pelis y series que quiero ver...

Hubo un período de mi vida en que no tenía ganas de ver películas. Estaba en ese momento de transcisión entre infancia y adolescencia en que ya me habían dejado de entusiasmar las películas de los niños pero que todavía no me terminaban de interesar las películas más adultas. Shame on me, ese período fue bastante más largo de lo que me hubiera gustado. Tanta es mi shame que confieso tristemente no haber visto The Godfather (ninguna de las 3), hecho que pienso seriamente remediar este año. No va a terminar el 2009 sin que yo haya visto estos 3 peliculones... Realmente, tengo que make up por todos los peliculones que no debo haber visto...

Dan in real life

What a great movie! It's a romantic comedy, where a widower with three daughters meets in a bookstore a woman and she turns out to be his brother's new girlfriend. It's fun and sweet and there are moments where you can't hold the tears at bay.
But it got me thinking about those times in your life where you meet a wonderful person that simply just fits you. You can talk for hours and hours on end and you never run out of things to say to each other. Time passes by flying while you're together. And you start to think that maybe here is a person you would really like to know better and, if the feeling is mutual, start a really lasting relationship together.

But then you find out that he (or she, depending your gender and tastes) is already in a relationship. And it feels like you've been hit by a brick. And it's painful. And you start to wonder why the hell you didn't meet him (or her) before he met the other person.
A devilish voice appears in your head saying how you'd get a chance if they broke up. But it makes you feel mean, because you wouldn't really want that to happen to the other person. So you smother that bitchy voice and you just keep asking yourself why life is so unfair as to make you meet this person when it was already too late.
In the movie (and if you haven't seen it and don't want to know the ending beforehand, please stop reading), Dan ends up with the girl, like in almost all Hollywood movies. And everyone is happy, including his brother, who forgives Dan for stealing his girlfriend. And this makes you wish that those things could really happen in real life, especially in your case.
But then, Life isn't a movie. So we can only hope everything ends alright...
